Gas hob ignition and cooker repairs in Fourways
If your hob keeps clicking after cleaning, sparks without lighting or loses its flame as the control is released, we assess ignition and safety components appropriate to the appliance.

Hobs that spark but will not stay lit
A burner that sparks without lighting may have a wet electrode, an ignition fault or a problem with gas reaching that burner. If it lights briefly then shuts off, a flame-supervision component may be involved on models fitted with that protection. We distinguish ignition faults from flame-detection faults rather than repeatedly attempting to relight the appliance.
When a built-in hob sparks after cleaning
On tightly fitted built-in hobs, water from cleaning can reach the ignition switches or electrodes. Tell us whether every burner is clicking or just one and whether the fault started immediately after cleaning. We can use that history to distinguish a single burner problem from a common ignition-control problem. A clicking sound alone does not establish that the gas supply is faulty.
Built-in versus freestanding appliances
Please tell us if the hob is set into a stone countertop, mounted above an oven, or part of a freestanding stove. Access to electrical controls and model identification can differ considerably. We will explain any access requirements before repair work begins.
Moisture around the ignition circuit
After a spill or deep clean, water may affect an electrode or switch and cause continuous sparking. The timing is useful evidence, but it does not prove that moisture is the only problem. Let us know if the clicking happens with the knobs off, and disconnect the appliance from use if you detect a gas smell.
When the flame dies after the knob is released
On models fitted with flame-failure protection, the appliance may close the gas valve if adequate flame is not detected. The burner, sensing device and control require inspection, not an attempt to defeat the safety mechanism. We will explain whether a compatible repair part is available.
When ignition starts behaving differently after a spill
A hob can continue sparking after a spill if moisture reaches an ignition electrode or a control switch. But similar symptoms can also come from a damaged ignition component. Let us know which knobs trigger the clicking, whether it occurs with all controls off and how long the problem has persisted.
The flame-failure sensor does a different job from the electrode that creates the spark. If the burner lights but repeatedly dies when the knob is released, the problem is not automatically solved by drying the spark point. We assess the appliance’s safety arrangement and use only an appropriate repair method.
Preparing for a repair assessment in Fourways
If the clicking began after cleaning, explain whether it continues when the burner controls are off. Do not keep attempting ignition if you notice gas odour.
Questions customers ask
What should I photograph for a built-in hob?
The control layout and manufacturer label, if it can be photographed without moving or dismantling the appliance.
Does constant clicking mean the gas cylinder is empty?
Not necessarily. Ignition and fuel delivery are separate functions. We investigate the actual symptoms before recommending a supply-related change.
