Gas geyser water too hot or temperature fluctuating
If hot water becomes scalding, swings rapidly between warm and cold or changes when another tap opens, explain where and when it happens so the heater and plumbing can be assessed.

What the water-heater symptoms mean
Temperature control problems are not all caused by the same component. Instantaneous gas water heaters respond to changing water flow and temperature demand, while shower mixers and delivery plumbing influence what reaches the person bathing. Uncontrolled high temperatures may cause burns and need prompt attention.
Sudden scalding at one particular shower
A faulty or unsuitable shower mixer may allow hot water to reach the outlet without the intended blending. If other hot outlets behave normally, include that distinction in the enquiry. Do not attempt further hot-water tests with children or vulnerable people exposed to possible scalding.
The heater temperature changes at every outlet
A whole-house pattern makes the heater controls, water demand and incoming supply important considerations. Note whether the burner stays on and whether the display shows changing set points. A thermostat or sensor may be relevant, but an error message alone cannot identify the part that needs replacing.
Temperature rises when water flow reduces
An instantaneous heater must regulate heat as water movement changes. If the flow becomes too low or unstable, outlet temperature may increase or the heater may shut down. We compare the change in water quantity with the change in heat rather than assuming that the gas pressure must be adjusted.
A second tap changes the shower temperature
Opening another hot-water outlet alters the demand placed on the heater and plumbing. Some changes may reflect the unit’s rated capacity or mixer performance; others indicate faults. Describe the number of outlets running and whether the temperature settles when one closes. This information is useful for distinguishing sizing from repair needs.
A new mixer or showerhead preceded the problem
Bathroom changes can affect minimum activation flow and hot/cold mixing even when the gas appliance has not been touched. Let us know whether a low-flow head, thermostatic mixer or plumbing alteration was installed. It may be appropriate to involve a plumber as well as a gas-water-heater technician.
High-temperature cutouts and protection
A heater that locks out on temperature protection is not something to defeat for more consistent showers. Continued unexpected shutdown or excessively hot water needs model-specific qualified evaluation. Do not bridge sensors, change combustion settings or run a sealed heater with its cover removed.
Make the booking useful
Tell us the make, model, visible set temperature if applicable and which taps are affected. State whether the water is always too hot or alternates unpredictably. If scalding temperatures or other hazards are present, stop use until the system has been appropriately assessed.
Answers before you book
Will turning up the gas regulator stabilise hot water?
No. Gas-supply settings must not be used as improvised temperature controls.
Can a mixer cause temperature swings?
Yes. It can change delivered temperature or the hot-water flow through the heater.
Should I keep using a heater that delivers scalding water?
No. Avoid exposure and obtain suitable assessment before normal use.
